Teacher Professional Development
The new TMP teacher portal has been designed to not only share and shed light on new resources and promising practices for the classroom but to help support and replenish good teaching. Here you’ll find web resources, rich math examples/tasks and assessments, studies and resource experts to support classroom teaching.
Cultivating sustainable relationships across education sectors has been a pivotal development activity of many Transition Math Project’s (TMP) Phase II partnerships.
In some instances, these partnerships built on existing connections; in others, these groups needed to learn more about each other’s challenges and hopes. In every case, the support received through TMP made it possible for local partnerships to devote expertise to improving college-ready curricula and courses, and to increasing the numbers of students who take rigorous math courses and pursue Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers.

In November of 2008, we were pleased to welcome Kay Merseth of Harvard University at our Fall Working Retreat. Dr. Merseth shared content from her recently published book on how to write cases about mathematics instruction in classrooms that can be used in professional development settings and department meetings to stimulate conversations and reflections about mathematics teaching.
It was so well-received that we asked Kay to present an online session that continues this discussion.
We think you'll find this information useful in preparing end-of-year data and looking toward sustainability in the work that you have already accomplished.
